What kind of media do you use? Why do you choose to use these media?

I use pencil and felt tip pen on paper mainly because they’re handy and allow me to get ideas and sketches down quickly wherever I am but also because they’re comfortable and second nature. I also like the flat clean finish.

Are there any downsides to this medium?

Sometimes the pen ink can bleed into the paper a lot which I don’t usually mind but when I’m working on commercial projects and things are going to be blown up large scale, I have to go in and clean up the odd jagged edge or blot in photoshop which can be a drag.

What’s the coolest art tip you’ve ever received?

A felt tip

Which era of art do you appreciate the most?

I really appreciate the surf, skate and rock art of the 60’s & 70’s by guys like Jim Phillips and Tony Edwards but I think my favourite era is right now. Say what you want about social media, Instagram etc but it gives me a window into some amazing artists on a daily basis that I otherwise wouldn’t know about. I’m constantly stoked on what people are putting out plus there’s this great sense of community.

What other budding artists do you love?

Well, I’m not sure if these guys are “budding” because they rip, but they may be lesser known.

Right now I’m pretty high on Brian Wade Scott, Marcus Dixon and Mark Lording.

Where can we see more of your work?

Currently, I have some work floating around on various band tees, Volcom apparel, Technine snowboards, Arbor skateboards and other bits and bobs including beers and rum. I’m also planning on doing an art show later this year as well as relaunching my website with new work and merch.
